Undergraduate Override Requests
- Contact/Meet with your Academic Advisor to determine if you must take this course this semester.
- Ensure the course you are requesting is a SCWK Course. We can only assist with SCWK courses.
- Check for Holds on your Account. We cannot remove holds and cannot approve overrides if you have a hold on your account.
- Read through the instructions and policies carefully.
- Submitting a request for an override does not guarantee you a spot in the course.
- You will not receive a response to your request until your request has been processed. Requests can take up to two weeks to process for most classes.
- SCWK 31603 On Death and Dying: Requests for this course are processed closer to the start of the semester and priority is given to students with Senior status, and then Junior status. Do not make a request for this course if you are not currently a Senior.
- We cannot override students into a course prior to the start of their designated registration period.
- Our office staff and program directors ask that students refrain from submitting multiple requests and not send follow-up emails regarding a request until one week prior to the start of the semester.
- You will receive an email letting you know the status of your request as soon as it has been processed.
During registration periods, the week before classes start and the first week of classes, we receive a high volume of requests. Please be patient as we process these requests.
IMPORTANT: We cannot approve a request for an override for an On-Campus Student to enroll in the section of a course designated for Online Students. These cannot be approved by instructors or program directors because these seats are reserved for Online Students Only.
Processing Times May Vary
Each Override Request must be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis. This process takes time. Submitting an override request does not guarantee immediate approval.
We ask that students to be patient, especially during registration, the first week of classes and week before classes begin. Requests can take up to two weeks to process for most classes and for very popular courses, we may not begin to process requests until one week prior to the start of the semester.
